While there is always a small amount of radiation present in the body there are levels that may become a hazard to humans if they are not kept in check. Becoming exposed to heightened radiation due to a wartime bombing or other disaster might require a NukAlert on hand and the average citizen might not know how much radiation is actually dangerous. Low level contamination is usually defined as levels barely detectible by instruments. High level contamination is easily detectible by instruments and is the sort of contamination which would cause harm to animals and humans.
