Sand in Hawaii  - Details

Some vacationers to Hawaii are stunned to discover that some beaches are not the usual beige or pink sandy color that most people associate with beaches. Some beaches along the southern coast of Hawaii's Big Island are actually black in color and are made of materials that have come off the recently active volcanoes that dot the island. Amazingly, there even other colors on the beaches of Hawaii beyond the classic white sands that you might see while standing on the porch of  Waikiki Beach rentals. While some beaches are indeed the classic sandy beige, some actually appear to be green in color.
